Hi, I'm a 3rd year student studying graphic design and this blog is based on an assignment I've just started working on, the main idea, is to choose an object or a phenomenon that fascinates or interests me and start collecting it from every point of view.
Now that the formalities are out of the way, I started off with a list of 10 things I'd be interested in collecting, namely; Swords, Wine, Bullets, Dream Catchers, Seashells, Coins, Guns, Candles, Eyes, and Dresses. At first my fascination was strong on Swords, but as I researched on every object according to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical aspects of the whole person I realised how much fun I will have collecting Wine, not just because it works well enough on all dimensions but because It's been growing on me for a while now and there's never a dull moment with it, words that describes my moments with wine are 'Burst of excitement.'
When I say there's never a dull moment with Wine, I mean it's not just about the moments you share a glass with a friend, it's the unique quality of taste that's found in different brands, which brings me to why wine Interests me as a designer. When I come across different types and brands of wine my curiosity rises in the link between the taste and the brand, as graphic designers we learn to give certain products or companies a brand image and through this collection I'm interested getting to know more when it comes to branding and the product.
My interest on a personal aspect would be my enjoyment in drinking wine, for me it's all about the taste, mostly when it comes to sweet wine, when I get to the tannin type I then burst with questions on how in the world certain wine lovers would actually say they find it sweet. I've found myself with extreme wine lovers and have them talk about what they think about certain wine, I don't know about you but as they sophisticatedly talk about it I get a little lost and excited at the same time, there's a certain language in the world of wine lovers which is also another characteristic that draws me closer to wine.
Apart from the above, I know wine is mentioned in the christian biblical context and today it is spiritually seen as an alcoholic drink that is believed to dull the spirit self in you. There's also talk of health effects when it comes to wine, I know there's all kinds of brands and types of wine to choose from, beyond all this I really do not know much about wine but I'm excited to find out what more this collection could unravel.
When it comes to challenges I could possibly face through this virtual collection of wine, I'm just mainly concerned about 'if there will be enough findings' on wine, but then again, i don't know much so here's to getting to know more about wine.
